Alex is the managing member and lead investment advisor at Pinestar Capital Advisors LLC. He is responsible for all investment decisions and recommendations of the firm. Alex started his career in finance and capital markets as an investment banking analyst at Performance Trust Capital Partners in 2013, where he primarily focused on advising smaller West Coast banks on M&A transactions and equity valuations.

More recently, Alex was a Vice President at Piper Sandler & Co., working in the Oregon municipal advisory and investment banking group. There he served as a municipal advisor or investment banker to a wide range of Oregon local governments (cities, counties, fire districts, community colleges and school districts) and has worked on some of the largest municipal bond issuances in Oregon.

In 2022, Alex founded Pinestar Capital Advisors and transitioned his focus toward investment management and advisory services. His decision to take the leap and change careers was driven by both a longstanding attraction to the complexity of investment advisor work, as well as the opportunity to foster meaningful and enduring relationships with clients.

Alex has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chicago. He has passed the Series 7, 50, 52, 65 and 79 securities exams and is a registered investment advisor in the State of Oregon.* As the sole supervised member of Pinestar Capital Advisors, Alex is also the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer (CCO).
